Programs
Each semester, teams of university students in Greece – as part of The Demos Center of The American College of Greece – are placed in an internship at the Municipality. Eligible students can receive internship academic credits to participate in an innovative urban studio program.
The first two participating municipalities are Kifissia and Elliniko-Argyroupoli—both GCoM signatory cities within the greater Athens region facing increasing climate challenges including extreme heat, wildfires, and flooding.
Students can choose one of the following partner placements to complete their internship.Each partner description below includes a short overview of the internship program focus, and a link to the application portal.
Fall 2026 Internship: Climate Change Hub
Be part of the next group of ACG students to join The Kali Polis Project, an internship program created by The Demos Center of the American College of Greece and supported by the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) and The Helidoni Foundation.
This Fall 2026 semester internship is supervised by the Climate Change Hub (CCHub) and focuses on documenting the two Spring 2026 Semester Student Projects in Kifissia and Elliniko-Argyroupoli, as well as supporting the digital mapping of climate change-related actions and initiatives implem ented by these two municipalities.
Students will work within the CCHub Action Mapping Platform to collect, document, and categorize municipal programs, services, and activities, contributing to future urban climate resilience work in Greece and beyond.

Program Description
Municipality of Kifissia
The inaugural Kali Polis Project with the Municipality of Kifissia focused on developing a green corridor and enhancing biodiversity in the center of Kifissia. This will play a vital role in urban revitalization and greening, which has benefits for cooling, carbon emissions, and climate resilience.

Municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupoli
The inaugural Kali Polis project with the Municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupoli focused on developing a public awareness campaign and education program for civil protection. This will play a vital role in preparing residents for wildfires, heat, flooding, and earthquakes, letting citizens know exactly how to help, what to do, where to go, and when in times of disaster.
